There is 6mm tread on all of the Bridgestone tyres, tracking and alignment was done earlier this year. A diagnostics/health check was completed by a main dealer at the last service highlighting no issues with the car other than 30% wear on rear brake pads, 60% wear on front brake pads (front will need replacing in approx 6000miles - this work was quoted at £189+VAT parts and labour from Alfa dealer). I had body work stone chips and cosmetic marks touched up by local coach works last month, so both exterior and interior are very clean. The seats are showing little wear on the leather, the interior is still very neat and tight in comparison with some Brera`s i`ve seen. The back seats and boot have hardly been used, and the car comes complete with the original Alfa tool kit. Very tight drive, tight steering and confident gear shifts. Alfa`s Blue&Me bluetooth phone and voice recognition system is also built into stereo. The car comes with the original key, plus spare Complete and original documentation. | Summary | This car is a lovely example of a great coupe and represents a fantastic value. This is a great and well looked after example of a beautiful car. Priced at £8995.00, however I will consider offers. Inspection welcome, please email me with any questions or for any further details. Happy to provide the full reg number on a one-to-one basis. Thank you. | X

Alfa Romeo GTV V6 in Silver with Red LeatherThe car is absolutely fantastic. The most exciting and thrilling I`ve ever owned. It handles like a dream...>
and with 60 coming up in 6 seconds it`s fast too. Not to mention the roaring soundtrack that V6 provides. When I bought the car she was a diamond in the rough but I`ve spent the time and money to get her back to top condition both mechanically and cosmetically. The Good bitsFull cambelt service including water pumper and tensioners in November 2011. Done to GTA settings by Simplyalfas Alfa Romeo specialists. (with receipts to prove)Fully service history with stamps. - Lots of other receipts too.Fully poly-bushed suspension. No more squeaks and better ride and handling.CSC exhaust system - In great condition, no blowing or leaks. Just had 2 new flexi joints.Aero pack - 6 speed gearbox, front splitter, rear spoiler, larger 17" Teledial wheels.4 good tyres. (about 3000 miles old) The wheels are in excellent condition. No marks or scratches. The paintwork is in great condition especially for the age of the car. It has the few usual stone chips at the front and one small mark on the fuel cap.Engine is as sweet as they come. She revs freely and the power comes silky smooth from the big V6. No flat spots or hunting. Completely solid underneath. Including the rear subframe. Mechanically she is fully sorted. Phase II model - Better / more desirable interior and a few mechanical revisionsThe not so good bitsThe drivers seat right hand seat bolster is worn. There is 2 small tears in the leather. Beware of cheap cars that have hidden problems. There are many of these out there. I know as I spent 3 months looking for this GTV, for the right GTV. These classic cars should be bought on condition and history, not mileage or price. If your looking for a fully sorted example please come and look at this one. 2004 ALFA ROMEO GT V6 ROSSO RED FARSH 33k miles
.
Lovely Rosso Red Alfa GT V6. These cars are getting rare & priced here for a quick sale as I`ve seen the replacement car I want! I`ve used the car...>
as a daily car for five years & it hasn`t ever let me down (seriously). It`s a wonderful car to drive, or just sit in & always attracts attention. I`m in the Alfa Owners Club & taken the car to many events & shows & it always attracts envious looks because of the condition. Full Alfa Romeo Service history, with full Cambelt 72k mile service done approx 1500miles ago 250bhp - it pulls, and pulls and pulls!!!!! Immaculate paintwork regularly polished & autoglymed Four New Tyres (two part worn tyres still on rear) Full Leather Black Interior Full Bose 11 Speaker sound system MoT & Taxed until middle of 2012 I`ve owned this car for five years & 28000 miles, I`ve really looked after & loved this car & it`s virtually unmarked. Bad points: I have been waiting until it got a little warmer to cover the few things below . It’s all fairly minor stuff but wanted to be honest. · Two of the alloys have minor kerb scuffing. I’ve had these quoted at £70 for refurb. · The brake callipers need a paint. This specialist will do all four for around £200 & will be returned to you in less than a week if you`re handy with a spanner or you can take the car to their premises http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com/ · There’s a small scratch about 3 inches long on the N/S rear quarter that’s been there since I bought it & some other minor scratches not really worth mentioning (give me a call or come & see it & you’ll see what I mean!) · In typical Alfa style both badges have faded. I`ve bought replacements from the dealer for around £65 but they`re the wrong ones. · If the buyer pays the full Classified price, both the wheels & the badges will be done prior to sale (but I`m waiting for warmer times for the calipers!) Please call (07720 376 241) & I`m happy to talk you through any questions you may have. I`ve priced the car to sell, there`s not much room to move but give me a call with any sensible offers as I want to sell quickly to buy something else. I have plenty of photo`s of this car (including odometer photo`s approx every 1000miles), every MoT certificate, every service sheet from the dealer, a Service CD if you fancy giving minor maintenance a go & a couple of litres of Selenia 0W60 racing oil (this is £10 a litre from a dealer) This listing is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to remove at any time. No test drives without full proof of license & FULL COMPREHENSIVE insurance that covers you FULLY (not third party) on the car Any inspection Welcome Cash only thank you X

Alfa Romeo' s in-house V6 engine design made its initial début in 1979 in the Alfa 6 . Introduced in 2.5 L guise, production engines would eventually range from 2.0 L to 3.2 L displacement. With modifications it is possible to increase engine displacement to 3.8 L (~232 cu in). Initially developed in the early 1970s by Giuseppe Busso , the original SOHC 12-valve design employed short push-rods to operate the exhaust valves in a design similar to that of earlier BMW / Bristol engines. In 1993, the first DOHC version of this engine appeared powering the Alfa Romeo 164. The Alfa Romeo V6 has been also quite popular in "kit car" type vehicles like the Ultima GTR , [ 5 ] Hawk HF Series [ 6 ] and DAX. [ 7 ] and is also used in the Gillet Vertigo sports car. [ 8 ] Contents 1 2.0 2 2.5 2.1 Four-valve 3 3.0 3.1 Four-valve 4 3.2 5 Production end 6 Notes [ edit ] 2.0 A 2.0 L (1,997 cc (121.9 cu in)) version was introduced in 1983. Both carburettor 132  PS (97  kW ; 130  hp ) and fuel injected versions were available from the start. A 2.0 turbocharged version, derived from the 3.0 L 12v, was introduced in 1991 in the Alfa Romeo 164 with 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp). Applications: 1983–1986 Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 1984–1987 Alfa Romeo 90 1991–1997 Alfa Romeo 164 (2.0 L turbo) 1995–2001 Alfa Romeo GTV & Spider (2.0 L turbo) 1998–2002 Alfa Romeo 166 (2.0 L turbo) [ edit ] 2.5 The 2.5L as longitudinal installation in GTV6. The original engine displaced 2.5 L (2,492 cc (152.1 cu in)) and produced 158 PS (116 kW; 156 hp). It was a 2-valve per cylinder design with a single belt-driven camshaft per cylinder bank and six carburettors fitted. Fuel injection was added for the 1983 Alfa 6, which produced the same 158 PS (116 kW; 156 hp). The 2-valve engine ended its life in the Alfa 155 , where there were two series for this engine, the 2.5 L developing 166 PS (122 kW; 164 hp). Differences between them were small and only on torque and power delivery producing exactly the same horsepower. Applications: 1979–1986 Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 1980–1986 Alfa Romeo GTV6 1984–1987 Alfa Romeo 90 1985–1991 Alfa Romeo 75/Milano 1992–1997 Alfa Romeo 155 1985–1996 Fiat Croma 1987–1989 Rayton Fissore Magnum V6 [ 9 ] [ edit ] Four-valve 2.5L V6 24V from Alfa Romeo 156 . A four-valve version was introduced in 1997 with the Alfa Romeo 156. The engine now produced 190 PS (140 kW; 187 hp). In 2001, the V6 was uprated to 192 PS (141 kW; 189 hp). The 166 used a slightly detuned version to make more low rev torque. This engine version was awarded as the International Engine of the Year in 2000. The engine has a 88 mm (3.5 in) bore and a 68.3 mm (2.69 in) stroke. [ 10 ] Applications: 1997–2005 Alfa Romeo 156 1998–2007 Alfa Romeo 166 [ edit ] 3.0 The 2.5 L engine was bored and stroked out to 3.0 L (2,959 cc (180.6 cu in)) for the 1987 75/Milano Verde , where it produced 185 PS (136 kW; 182 hp), still with 2 valves per cylinder. This engine was modified for transverse placement in the 164 and fitted with a high-performance camshaft and low-restriction exhaust, producing 192 PS (141 kW; 189 hp) in standard form, 184 PS (135 kW; 181 hp) when a catalyzer was fitted in 1991, with the Cloverleaf version producing 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp). The same engine fitted to the SZ was tuned to a further 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp). The engine was upgraded to dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder in 1993. Due to this and other refinements, this engine produced 211 PS (155 kW; 208 hp) for the regular 1993 164 , with 230 PS (169 kW; 227 hp) and 276 N·m (204 ft·lbf) in the 164 QV with the Euro 3 engine producing 232 PS (171 kW; 229 hp) on the Q4 model which in its final production run in 1996, it got reduced to 228 PS (168 kW; 225 hp) but with increased torque. The final run of 3.0 V6 engines fitted to the GTV and 166 range, produced 220 PS (162 kW; 217 hp). Applications: 1993–1996 Alfa Romeo 164 1995–2003 Alfa Romeo GTV & Spider 1998–2005 Alfa Romeo 166 1994–2001 Lancia Kappa 1998–present Gillet Vertigo [ edit ] 3.2 3.2L engine from Alfa Romeo 147 GTA. In 2002 Alfa Romeo introduced the 156 GTA with a 3.2 L (3,179 cc (194.0 cu in)) version of the V6 with 250 PS (184 kW; 247 hp) and 300 N·m (220 ft·lbf) of torque. Later this engine was also used in the Alfa Romeo 166, GTV, Spider and Alfa Romeo GT in a slightly detuned form 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp). The engine has a 93 mm (3.7 in) bore and a 78 mm (3.1 in) stroke. [ 11 ] Applications: 2002–2005 Alfa Romeo 156 GTA 2002–2005 Alfa Romeo 147 GTA 2004–2007 Alfa Romeo GT 2003–2005 Alfa Romeo 166 2003–2005 Alfa Romeo GTV & Spider 2001–2006 Lancia Thesis [ edit ] Production end The V6 production ended in 2005 at Alfa Romeo Arese Plant ; [ 12 ] a stock of five thousand was built, to be used Lancia Thesis, Alfa 166 and Alfa GT models. [ 13 ] The engine was replaced in the 159 and Brera by a new 3.2 L V6 unit combining a General Motors-designed engine block with Alfa Romeo cylinder heads and induction. British automotive engineering company Cosworth was keen to buy assembly lines of the Alfa Romeo V6 engine, but the Italian company did not want to sell it. [ 14 ] The last version of 3.2 L engine was Euro4 compliant, so it would have been possible to produce it a couple of years more. [ 15 ] The engine designer Giuseppe Busso died only a couple of days after the last engine was produced in Arese. V6 12 Valve rocker shaft GTV 3.0l engine mounting GTV6 engine mounting 156 V6 water pump impeller GTV6 and GTV3.0l Engine ECU The Alfa Romeo V6 Engine The Alfa Romeo V6 is one of the classic engines of all time, it is as famous as the A series or the V12 Ferrari engines, It is and always has been revered for its creamy smooth power delivery and revvy nature. The first time we come across the engine is in the Alfa 6 where it was fed by a multitude of solex carbs however the Alfa 6 was not the best of sellers so we really did not get to “know” the engine until it appeared in the GTV6 where it sported a very early Bosch fuel injection system and it produced 155 bhp from 2.5 litres, the engine has developed from there into the 3.2l GTA engine with 250 bhp. The original V6 is a single overhead camshaft engine with a short push rod and rocker over to the exhaust valve (Pic1), the inlet valve runs directly on the cam and this allowed Alfa Romeo engineers to get a decent angle between the valves so they could get a pent roof combustion chamber. If you look in detail at the rocker onto the exhaust valve you will see the adjustment for the exhaust valve clearances and interestingly (to me anyway) if you undo the central nut on the camshaft drive pulley you can remove the camshaft to do the inlet valve clearances without taking the cam belt off, which is a nice bit of design. The engine was then enlarged to 3.0l while retaining the rocker arrangement for the valve gear and power was up to around 192 bhp in the 164 and 75 with tuned examples going up to 220 bhp. Alfa Romeo then developed the engine into a Quad camshaft design with four valves per cylinder, this instantly upped the safe rev limit by 1000 rpm, the old engines valve gear had much more inertia as it was considerably heavier and so valve bounce became a problem at higher engine speeds this was eliminated with the cams running directly above both inlet and exhaust valves. The engines development can almost bee seen in the latest 3.2 version as Alfa Romeo have “left” certain reminders in the castings of its origins, note the redundant engine mounting point on this GTV 3.0l (pic 2) compared with the mounting on the GTV6 engine!(pic 3) and on early 24 valve engines as fitted in 164’s there is the unused drive for the distributor. The V6 has been a reliable engine with cam belt failures being comparatively rare, the earlier 12 valve engines tend to suffer with oil leaking from the hydraulic cam belt tensioner, this is usually a cheap repair to do if you already have the cam belt off, with the kit only costing around £15. Early 2.5 engines had an interesting way of sealing between the head and the block, where by the bores had a sealing ring made of aluminium that fitted over the top of them and then the water jacket was sealed by a perimeter rubber seal, this did not prove very satisfactory and was soon replaced by a more conventional gasket. Early engines also had a tendency to wear out valve guides and this was also modified during the life of the engine. By the time they developed the 24 valve engine they had eliminated most of the issues except one which was due to penny pinching on the impeller for the water pump which on some models they made of plastic which cracks from the centre outwards (pic 4) and this causes the engine to overheat at high speed, while running at normal temperatures around town, why they only did this on some models and not others is completely beyond my understanding. The 3.2l engine also has some interesting inlet cam shafts which have a flat top to increase the time the valve is open (duration) this is one of the ways that they get that little bit more power out of the GTA engine. The later 24 valve engines also had a new oil pump which is chain driven of the front of the crankshaft and this allowed the company to finally get rid of the original distributer drive. Some of the most interesting developments have come with the fuelling of the engine, the original Solex carb versions were not known for their economy, in fact you might have found it cheaper to just poor petrol down the inlet manifold from a large bucket. Then on the GTV6 electronic fuel injection was used, this is an analogue system which is the pre cursor to all modern fuel injection systems. If you look at the picture (pic 5) of the GTV6 ecu you will not see a micro processor anywhere whereas the GTA ecu (the small one) is a fully sealed unit and has a very large microprocessor. The early GTV6 system injects three injectors at a time while the late one fires all the injectors individually. The later system also monitors the mixture, checks for pre ignition controls the ignition advance curve as well as controlling the idle speed and many other parameters a modern engine needs to meet emission regulations. On the early system there is a separate amplifier for the ignition and the spark advance is controlled by bob weights, while the idle speed is controlled by a manually adjustable air by pass valve, how archaic is that! How to change an Alfa Romeo V6 Cam Belt Changing a cam belt is one of the most difficult service jobs on an Alfa Romeo and should only be attempted by a skilled motor mechanic with the correct tools. As such, this is just an overview so you know what is being done to your car. The first thing to do is to remove the right hand front wheel and under tray and right hand side engine bay cover, making sure the car is lifted in a safe manner and supported on axle stands. Then you have to remove the plenum chamber this is only secured by two allen keys hidden down behind it and once these are removed you have to disconnect all the pipes and wires from it, including the chrome inlet tubes, and then the engine breather pipe has to be removed from the rocker cover as you can’t pull the plenum back with it in place; now the plenum will pull off, on some models you will have to disconnect the engine management unit Once you have removed the plenum chamber you can then remove the rear coil packs, these are secured by four 10mm nuts. when refitting the plenum make sure that you don't trap any of the wires to the coil packs and be sure that you are happy with the spark plugs and coil caps as they are difficult to get back to if there is a problem when the car starts up again. It is probably best to remove the front cam cover next and then remove the front coil packs and get them out of the way by laying them over to the left of the engine bay. Now both rocker covers have to come off, this entails loosening three of the chrome inlet tubes in order to get at the securing 6mm allen keys on the rear cylinder head and be careful with the dip stick securing bracket on the front head once this is off the engine needs to be turned over until the cam locking tools fit and these should now go on their respective camshafts. Number one plug can now be removed and the DTI can be fitted in its place. Now we have to remove the auxiliary belt and both its tensioner and idler and it is also best to remove the lower crankshaft pulley at this point. Next remove the covers from the cam belt, the upper cover is secured by three fasteners and then it pulls vertically upwards to remove. Remove the auxiliary drive pulley and then both the lower covers are accessible these are secured by three 5mm allen keys and these are a bit tricky to get to and will include much skinning of knuckles. The cam belt is now accessible and can be removed by loosening its tensioner . Before refitting it is worth considering fitting a water pump especially on the 2.5 V6 as the plastic impeller cracks and causes problems with engine cooling. It is always necessary to replace the tensioner as they wear out and if they break they will destroy your engine. In order to refit the cam belt it is necessary to loosen all the cam drive pulleys as they need to rotate to get the correct tension on the belt, once they are loose, tension the belt and then do up the pulley securing bolts. From here on it is only a case of reversing the above procedure.
