Selling a much loved car, new company car forces sale. Considered keeping both but the reality of using two cars is not that practical, hence reason for...>
sale. Car is a looker and still gains admiring glances along with the odd enthusiast whom requires to acknowledge the presence of such a car. In all the time and places I have visited whilst driving this car, I can say it is a rare day when you come across another Alfa 159 of any model type or colour, even rarer when you see a red 159 ti, which is the only colour and style that does this car the justice that it deserves. Please email or phone 0141 884 1395 in the evening Mon - Fri or anytime weekends for more information or to arrange viewing. Offers welcome from genuine buyers. I will add more photographs at the weekend if weather and time allow. X

2008 ALFA ROMEO 159 TI 16V 1.9 JTDM RED
.
Hi,up for sale with a very heavy heart is my dream car. I`ve wanted one of these from the day they started making them in 2007. I finally got this one...>
last year, and have now moved jobs and live 300 metres from my work, hence the very very reluctant sale.Dont mistake this model for one of the basic models with the small wheels and bland interior. This is the Ti model, with the best and highest spec of them all. 19" wheels, lowered suspension, Brembo brakes, side skirts, chrome mirrors and the red logo leather seats. The only option my car does not have is the factory sat nav, and by all accounts it is rubbish anyway. Please dont be put off by the high mileage, as I have been a mechanic for 23 years and do not buy rubbish. This car has a substantial full service history. It was a Lloydstsb district managers car before me and it did 2 journeys a week between Windsor and Newcastle. As you probably know, 95% of wear on an engine is in the first 3 minutes of start up. This car does not smoke in the slightest. It is mechanically in A1 condition. Everything that has needed doing has been done due to it being a Lloyds lease car.The cambelt kit was done at 82000 miles, and the clutch and dual mass flywheel were done at 87000 miles. These are the important ones to note. The only flaw with the car is the laquer which is peeling from the front bumper and edge of the bonnet due to stones on the motorway. There are no dents, car park dints or scratches at all.The Leather seats and interior are as new. The back seats look like they have never been sat in.The things that I have done to the car are:1: fitted a twin exit exhaust to make it look like the 2.4. (the 1.9 only has one tailpipe).2: one of the main problems with modern diesels are when the DPF`s (diesel particulate filter)block up and cause the engine to go into limp mode and is very costly to repair. Mainly caused by short journeys or town driving. I have had this removed and had a bypass pipe fitted, and at the same time had the engine remapped for more power and torque(and better mpg) to 195 bhp. The dpf software has been removed also. I did this to my previous SEAT Leon diesel as that one did block. The one I removed from this car is not blocked and will be available with the car if you want it, or I can refit it for you. There is a lot of literature about this problem on google, so go ahead and look up "DPF problems". This can never happen to my car now, and it is not an MOT requirement to have the DPF on the car. This was done by an Alfa Romeo specialist, not a back street garage. The car has many extras like the Blue and Me, which connects by bluetooth into your phone and you control your phone using the steering wheel controls and facia computer. It also has a USB connector in the glove box to play your music and stuff through. It has parking sensors, hill start brakes, auto wipers, auto lights, anti dazzle mirrors, remote deadlocking, electric folding mirrors, heated seats, electric everything, the list goes on. The picture speak for themselves. Please do not make any silly offers as this car with lower mileage would go for around £2000 more. And remember that the lower mileage ones will have done a lot of stop and starts, and the engine will probably be more worn than this one.Come and have a look before bidding, as you will love the car when you see it.I am a very honest and genuine ebayer, just look at my seller feedback. I do not buy or sell rubbish. The landline number in the advert is my work number. I do 4 days on and 4 days off, so call or text my mobile first and I will call you back.I will be looking for a VW transporter T5 once this sells to take my new motorbike to the track so if you have something I might like, let me know. Even better if its a Kombi van. Cash either way. Thanks for looking. X

Auto Express Car Reviews Text: James Disdale / Photos: Nathan MorganOctober 2007 Rating: A legend is back at Alfa Romeo. The TI badge now appears on the 159 saloon. Short for Turismo Internazionale, the discreet two-letter label is reserved for only the most sporty and luxurious models in the range. To mark the occasion, the Italian manufacturer has fitted the newcomer with an upgraded version of its 2.4-litre JTD diesel engine. It now produces 210bhp – up 10bhp on the old unit. Sports suspension has also been added, alongside cosmetic up-grades inside and out. However, the Alfa faces stiff competition from prestige challengers such as the accomplished BMW 3-Series and new Audi A4. So are the revisions enough to allow the 159 to take on these premium class leaders? If the answer was based on looks alone, the Italian should have its rivals well and truly beaten. At the front is the traditional heart-shaped grille, flanked by six circular headlamps sitting beneath a menacing brow. Move around the car and you’ll be struck by the neat design details – such as the alloy door handles – and elegant proportions. To these, the TI adds 10-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels and subtle side skirts, along with silver-finish door mirrors. The cabin is equally stylish. Its aluminium-trimmed facia, angled towards the driver, features beautiful cowled dials, while the comfortable leather seats wear a special stitched Alfa logo. It’s a pity, then, that space is at a premium for all occupants, and the quality of plastics still lags behind the best in the sector.Matters aren’t helped by quirky features such as the boot release button being located in the rooflining, just ahead of the rear view mirror. For many Italian motors, though, the engine is the heart around which everything revolves – and the 159 maintains that tradition. The five-cylinder turbodiesel unit is smooth and punchy, providing the Alfa with plenty of mid-range torque and the sort of tuneful exhaust note you would more commonly expect to hear from a petrol motor. Refinement is excellent and only on start-up is there any hint of diesel clatter.A highly capable chassis backs up the TI’s spirited straight-line performance. It’s stiffened and lowered by 20mm, so the Alfa dives into corners with minimum body roll, although the ride can get unsettled on poor surfaces. The steering is well weighted and direct, while the six-speed manual gearbox has a light and accurate action. It isn’t quite as sharp as that of a 3-Series, but the Alfa is certainly plenty of fun to drive.Costing £25,400, the 159 TI represents good value when compared with the pricier, slower and less well equipped German competition. There’s also a practical Sportwagon estate, and even a charismatic 3.2-litre V6 petrol-engined version on offer. Further options include a six-speed Q-Tronic semi-automatic gearbox and grippy Q4 all-wheel drive. However, with Alfa Romeo finishing a lowly 30th out of 32 in the 2007 Auto Express Driver Power survey, question marks remain over the brand’s build quality and reliability. If it can overcome these, the 159 TI deserves all the attention it will get.Rival: BMW 320d M SportThe oil-burning 3-Series has a great chassis, a prestigious badge and the sort of build quality Alfa can’t currently hope to match. But while the 320d provides excellent fuel returns and low CO2 emissions, it’s pricier and has less standard equipment than the 159. Thanks to well chosen exterior upgrades, it remains one of the best lookers in the class. Add an excellent diesel engine, a fun driving experience and competitive pricing, and you have a great all-round package. But the Alfa lags behind German rivals for quality, reliability and residuals. Take the plunge, though, and you’ll get a highly characterful and entertaining motor. Short for Turismo Internazionale, it’s name that’s been used on some of Alfas famous sporting models in the past and now it’s landed on a new version of Alfa’s 159 sports saloon as Alfa takes another swipe at the big German brands dominating the compact executive market. So where does the Ti slot into the range? Think of the Ti badge as Alfa’s answer to Audi’s sporty S-Line models and BMW’s M-Sport (but definitely not M) cars. It’s a trim option, not a full blown performance derivative, but it is the sportiest 159 you can get, there being no GTA version. M-Sport and S-Line cars often find homes with business users not allowed an enormous amount of freedom in their car choice but who still want to feel like they’ve got something a cut above your average rep mobile. The Ti costs £750 more than the current Lusso range topper. So it’s just one model? No, you can have the S-Line in either four-door saloon or five-door Sportwagen forms and with either a 185bhp 2.2-litre petrol (£23,400, 0-62mph in 8.8sec), 260bhp 3.2-litre V6 fuelled by the same stuff (£29,200, 7sec), or a 2.4-litre five pot JTD diesel with 210bhp that does 62mph in 8.2sec and costs £25,400. The Sportwagen body carries an £1100 premium in each case. The small petrol is front-drive only, the V6 four-wheel drive only and the diesel can be had in either configuration. But bear in mind that the 159 isn’t a light car before ticking the box for those rear driveshafts on the diesel and adding an 60kg. 123Next>> Rate this article... 1 2 3 4 5 Average rating: 3.5 (184 votes) Discuss this Add your comment Sign in You must be signed in to submit a comment. Strangely, the Europe-wide Master Test found the 159 top in every single dynamic test against all other rivals in the class, given 5 stars for every aspect of its dynamics. http://youtube.com/watch?v=o5zzwuiJLD0 And Clarkson said it was "clearly and demostrably the best car in its class". This is a positive review by CAR but as has been said in another comment Alfa deserves better reviews in the British press. The dealers over there might not be up to scratch but the 159 is an excellent product. 30 December 2007 22:33 twinchoke says Alfa Romeo 159 2.4 jtd Ti I bought myself a 159 1.9jtdm six weeks ago and I love it. Been a mechanic I had a few doubt's about reliability and build quality but after a bit of research I took the plunge. It looks great goes well and has character. I got out of a 05 Lexus IS200 which was a great car but I don't miss it at all give me Italian flair any day. 29 December 2007 21:10 shiftright says Alfa deserves more credit I feel Car and the automotive press in general do not give Alfa the credit they deserve as of late. Undoubtedly, the Germans make some great motors, but they also make some duds. You could slap a premium German badge on a pre-VW Skoda and it would be lavished with praise, while it seems anything from underdog Alfa gets an automatic negative bias, no matter how good the car. Is it just journalistic laziness? After years of driving many default me-too German saloons, I acquired an Alfa 159 3.2 and I couldn't be happier. The quality is (finally) the equal of my previous BMWs and Benzes, but the car is so much more than a sum of its parts. It has an intangible immensely charismatic quality that has made me a newly born Alfa admirer. I feel you are out of step with real world drivers, and the consistent discrepancies between your and reader's ratings prove this. 29 December 2007 20:22 Become a CAR contributor Upload stories, photos or videos direct to the site, or email newsdesk@carmagazine.co.uk. TI in this case stands for Turismo Internazionale, and it's generally used for higher-specification models. The new 159s fit the bill, since they all have extra body styling, lowered sports suspension, 19" alloy wheels, red Brembo brake calipers and chrome effect for the door mirrors and exhaust tailpipe. There's a choice of 2.2-litre four-cylinder and 3.2-litre V6 petrol engines, plus the 2.4 JTDM turbo diesel. Manual transmission is standard, but QTRONIC is available on the diesel and the V6. The V6 also has Q4 four-wheel drive as standard, and this is optional on the diesel. All versions come in saloon or Sportwagon body styles. Prices are £750 above those of the Lusso models, and range from £23,400 for the 2.2-litre saloon to £31,750 for the 3.2 V6 Q4 QTRONIC Sportwagon.
