at any of the photos below, then you`ll already know just how beautiful this 2003 Alfa Romeo Spider looks. With the gorgeous matching of the rich Lightning Blue paintwork and the natural Momo leather interior, it certainly upholds the fifty-plus-years of stylish, desirable soft-tops from the genius designers of Milan. But, far more than just a pretty picture to oggle at, this is also a perfectly usable, practical car. Just one that also happens to turn heads at every glance. It is one of the very last of the Phase 2 916 series Spiders ever built and, being of the well-equipped Lusso variety, it is full to the brim with extras. The roof is fully electric and raises or dissappears with the flick of a single switch, which is a Godsend with our unpredictable British weather! It also boasts a climate control system, which not only keeps you cool in the summer but also helps reduce the blighted condensation on the rear screen when it`s a bit chillier. There`s also traction control, electric mirrors & windows and an enhanced JVC stereo system. Whether the roof is up or down, then, it`s a surprisingly comfortable way to travel. Especially as, mechanically, it has been cared for just as much as it has cosmetically. We have had it fully checked over by a renowned Alfa specialist here in Norwich and sorted out any slight niggle that was found. When a car is as pleasing to drive as this Alfa Romeo, you don`t want the experience spoilt by some irritating rattle or knock. So, in the past week we have had a CV joint replaced, fitted a new exhaust section and installed some Powerflex bushes to the rear. This alone has tightened the car up no end. Where, previously, it might have occasionally felt a little wishy-washy at the back end it is now firm and assured. And before we were lucky enough to obtain it, all previous owners have clearly been just as attentive.The service book is complete with eight stamps, the most recent service dating from just 7k miles ago. There is also evidence that the cam belt was last renewed in 2007, but we are offering to include a full belt, tensioner and variator renewal plus a complete service at the full asking price. It comes with an MOT through until September and the certificate has no advisory notices on it whatsoever. Absolutely no shortcuts have been made or any expense spared with this wonderful Spider. For example, it sits proudly on four quality Pirelli tyres with plenty of tread left on each corner - as we all know, these do not come cheap and are not thrown on some unloved old bus!Take another look at the photos below (I`ve included a close-up shot of each tiny defect - look carefully `cos there`s not too many!) and enjoy the timeless Italian design brilliance. with a few marks but the colour and the shape/lines really make this car stand out when all cleaned and polished, the electric hood has no rips or tears and works perfectly but the plastic back window has cracked when i tried to put the roof down on a cold/frosty morning :(. The interior is in excellent condition and comes with the red MOMO leather seats and carpet and all the gauges/dials work as they should. The engine has done around 75k and pulls like a train in every gear and runs like a dream, the fans cut in as they should and shes a pleasure to drive and with the rumble of the V6 and the exhaust really does turn heads. It comes on standard alfa alloys with good tyres and the car also still has tax and mot. The reason im selling it as spares or repairs is the clutch went after xmas and although it drives(just) would need to be towed/trailored away. This car really is in great condition and with a few ££ spent would make a great car for the coming summer months and tbh i now have another car so kinda lost the love for the alfa. The original Boat Tail design was dropped in 1969, in favour of a more aerodynamically efficient Kamm Tail, when a 1962cc version also became available. The model continued in production for over 27 years, until the early nineties, with only detail changes to the original 1966 Pinifarina design. The most desirable of the Spiders is the original "Duetto" with the round or boat tail body. This car is in a good useable condition with a new MOT.
