there cars knows this is an awesome machine, and this the more sought after diesel model. Plenty of torque and plenty of power.I won`t write a long essay about it. But its got privacy glass added at my own expense, gives it the look and appeal. comes with big 18" alloys, also comes with bose sound system with subwoofer, cruise control, i pod and usb adaptor kit, well looked after, Pleanty of tread let on the tires, some still have spikes. Never abused, tight as a drum, once you`ve seen it you`ll understand. your probably thinking why so cheap, well unfortunately this was registered as a Cat C. But before you turn your interests away, i would like to say that the damage was not only very light, but stupidly light for this car to have been written off. (written off only due to high mileage). The car had been bumped from behind, to repair this car i had to replace the bumper, and buy a new tailgate lock, so as you can now understand the damage was nothing at all. there are no scratches or dents on this car, that i am aware of off. There will be stone chips on the bumper to the amount of mileage i do. but this is a bargain you do not want to miss out on.If you were to put the milage into city mileage the equivalent wear would be less than 20,000 miles as this car only sits in 6th gear and cruises on the motorway on cruise control at 80mph, whereby still amazingly it manages to pull of 62mpg.Grab yourself the biggest bargain ever.TEST DRIVES ARE WELCOME, BUT WITH SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. NO TIMEWASTER, TYRE KICKERS ETC ETC.Call me before hand to view the car if you wish to do so.If buying from distance i can guarantee you will not be disappointed. I will also deliver the car for free, depending you don`t live in northern ireland of some crazy place in the scottish mountains. Thanks for looking. And good luck to the future owner. YOUR ARE BUYING FROM AN HONEST NAAD OPEN SELLER, I DONT PULL SCAMS, I DONT LIE, I DONT MISADVERTISE, MY FEEDBACK IS STILL AT 100%, SO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME WITH ANY OTHER QUESTIONS EITHER VIA EMAIL OR CONTACT ME ON 07429 038 036. a great opportunity to own beautiful car that is a lovely drive, particularly if you commute or drive regularly on trunk roads and motorways. The GT is a great head-turner and is a fairly irregular sight on the roads so you wont feel like another TT sheep when you`re driving around. I`ve had loads of compliments on the car, particularly the interior which is a lovely and quite uncommon tan leather - it is a great contrast with the metallic black exterior. The car really covers the ground quickly and smoothly and is the ideal long-distance cruiser. 70mph is acheived with only 2000 rpm in 6th gear and the torquey engine allows plenty of room for swift and safe overtaking at these speeds. The cruise control and the wonderfully supportive bucket seats add to the sensation of an effortless drive and the icing on the cake is a 53mpg return (Trip computer reading)! - that`s only just over 13p per mile at today`s diesel prices! The car was last serviced in September 2011 at my local Alfa specialist and the car is running beautifully. In addition I have confirmation that the Timing belt was replaced at 37,000 miles in December 2008 so that`s one less worry. The car has a Full Sevice History in the up-to-date logbook. It`s with great regret that I`m putting, as my neighbour calls it, my Italian Supercar up for sale but a change of job means that I no longer need a second car for a motorway commute. Viewings are very welcome at weekends or after 7pm during the week. Test drivers will need to prove that they have cover to drive other cars on their insurance.Payment preferred by cash handed over to bank cashier or verified banker draft.Standard Features:16" Alloy Wheels - A much more comfortable ride on today`s pot-hole filled roadsBeautiful full Tan Leather interiorCruise controlCD playerDual zone climate controlABS & ESPAdjustable seats with lumbar adjustmentAlarm & ImmobiliserCentral lockingTrip ComputerElectric mirrorsElectric auto-shut windowsFront & Reat Fog lights,Leather multi-function steering wheelMultiple Air Bags front and rear.Power steering,Rear headrestsAdjustable steering columnFront armrest with storage X

Andy Enright tries the 1.9 JTDm diesel versionHas any coupe in recent years had a more unfair crack of the whip than Alfa's GT? I doubt it. It seems this car was a hot ticket for about ten minutes before the buzz moved onto something else. What's more, the launch of the Brera coupe has further diverted the spotlight from one of the most attractively-styled cars on sale today. Looking to rectify the balance somewhat, we took delivery of a 1.9-litre JTD diesel model to reassess this car's attributes. To this eye at least, the GT is a better proportioned vehicle than the Brera. Walk round the GT and you'll be hard pushed to find one bad angle whereas the Brera looks sensational from some angles but strangely lumpen from others. This GT also enjoys a fair price advantage over the Brera (around £6,000), although this diesel model is not directly comparable due to the fact that the newer car sports a 2.4-litre diesel whereas this makes do with 1.9-litres of JTDm engine. Hefty dealer discounting has made this car even better value, so that you should be able to secure one for comfortably less than you'd pay for something like a Golf GTI. But then you will have to make do with `just' 150 or 170bhp, although the powerplant is certainly modern enough. Model-wise, there's a choice of standard, Cloverleaf or Lusso models in 150bhp form, while those wanting the 170bhp version can opt for the Cloverleaf version. The desirable Q2 variant, which offers extra high performance grip thanks to its Torsen limited-slip differential, is available in 150 or 170bhp guises. Prices start at around £22,000. The Fiat Group, of which Alfa Romeo is a key constituent, was first to market with a direct injection diesel way back in 1986 and in 2005 was awarded the Economist Innovation Award for ground-breaking work in developing common-rail diesel technology. Alfa Romeo brought the first JTD common rail engine to the UK in 1997, plumbed into the front of an Alfa 156. The latest development is a sixteen-valve Multijet version of that engine which offers more power and reduced noise levels yet still posts competitive fuel economy and emissions figures. It's basically the same as the 140bhp unit offered in the pre-facelift 147 from summer 2003 but a revised injection strategy has boosted the output while reducing noise and vibration."Drive an Alfa GT JTDM and you wonder how on earth this car managed to rack up such modest sales"The Multijet system takes the idea of pilot injection - squirting a small amount of fuel into the cylinder to `prime' the combustion chamber for the main ignition process - and refines it still further. In this instance, the main injection is divided into a series of smaller injections, allowing smoother, more gradual combustion that utilises fuel more efficiently. The electronic control units therefore have to be astonishingly precise. Whereas before the time lag between injections was a relatively yawning 1,500 microseconds, the response time has been slashed by a factor of 10. A variable geometry turbocharger and a high pressure direct injection system make the 150bhp or 170bhp outputs possible but the key is the 305Nm torque figure. This means that this diesel model feels gutsier than the old 3.2-litre V6 petrol GT flagship. You'll believe that too when you drive the car. Fire it up and the engine settles into an unobtrusive background thrum that never threatens to rattle the expensively moulded dashboard. Yes, you can tell it sups from the black pump, but it's hardly what you'd describe as coarse. On the move, the engine remains pleasantly muted without the whistles and bellows of many powerful turbodiesel cars. Between 1,750 and 3,250rpm, there's a huge shove in the back, the elastic power delivery catapulting the Alfa down the road in a deliciously addictive manner. Even in sixth gear, even the 150bhp GT JTDm will dispatch the 50-75mph increment in just 7.9 seconds. From rest, it'll accelerate to 60mph in 9.6 seconds and run onto a top speed of 130mph. Average fuel economy is pegged at 45.6mpg and emissions amount to a mere 165g/km. Closer inspection of the GT chassis reveals that it's something of a mix and match between the old 156 saloon and the 147 hatch. The tape measure shows that the car rides on the 2,596mm long 156 wheelbase but underneath the pretty styling, the firewall, the pedal box, the steering column and the entire climate control system are pure 147. The front wings are shared with the 147 GTA although the bonnet has been slightly modified. The styling house Bertone were responsible for most of the design and the GT was originally pencilled in to be assembled at their Turin plant where spare capacity had been freed up by the demise of the Fiat Punto Cabriolet. After many beans were counted, however, Alfa Romeo thanked Bertone very much for their penmanship and decided to build the GT alongside the 147 at their Pomigliano d'Arco plant just outside Naples. Given the solid feel of latest generation 147s, that's perhaps no bad thing and the first impression one gets dropping into the driver's seat of the GT is of rugged build quality. The cowled instruments and sporting logos that can look a little overblown on a base 147 hatch suddenly make all sorts of sense in a `proper' coupe. The script on the dials has been revised for the GT, the centre console has been redesigned and the material used for the dashboard is of a different texture to standard 147. Many will be sold on the GT long before their slacks hit the seats. Much of that will be due to the swoopy styling. Much of it is contemporary Alfa Romeo, particularly around the front end where few will be able to distinguish GT from 147 as it arrives in their rear view mirror. Some cars enjoy massive yet wholly undeserved success. For each of these there's the opposite, a model that's been somewhat neglected despite offering a well-stuffed portfolio of talent. The Alfa GT JTDm is just that car. Quick, relaxed and with the air of a car far more expensive, this is a model that buyers will be falling over themselves for in twenty years time. Today, however, you're unlikely to have to shoulder too many people aside at your Alfa dealer.Facts At A Glance CAR: Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTDm 16v PRICE: £22,500-£25,000 - the road INSURANCE GROUP: 15 CO2 EMISSIONS: 165g/km PERFORMANCE: 0-60mph 9.8s Max Speed 130 mph FUEL CONSUMPTION: (combined) 45.6mpg STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES: Twin front, side and curtain airbags, ABS WILL IT FIT IN YOUR GARAGE?: Length/Width/Height, 4489/1763/1365mm Build Comfort Depreciation Economy Equipment Handling Insurance Performance Styling Value Friday February 20 Send by Messenger Email this article Print ADVERTISEMENT if(window.yzq_d==null)window.yzq_d=new Object(); window.yzq_d['KKjjPlf4eEQ-']='&U=13odv8b8h%2fN%3dKKjjPlf4eEQ-%2fC%3d200127573.202028669.203299357.200493719%2fD%3dLREC%2fB%3d201134203%2fV%3d1'; Car Videos Paris Motor Show See the world's newest carsbefore they hit the road. In the mode of Boneschi’s Gazzella, they were Alfa’s 1900 saloon made-over, and proved how versatile the company’s first mass produced platform could be. It wasn’t until the 1954 Giulietta Sprint arrived that Alfa could lay claim to its own two-door 2+2. Like the current GT it was Bertone-styled, was powered by a 1290cc 65bhp four-cylinder engine, and was followed by more powerful versions like the 90bhp Sprint Veloce, 100bhp Sprint Zagato and 145bhp Sprint 2600 six pot. Since then, Alfa’s been through 2+2s like the 1963 Giulia, the 1750 and 2000 GTVs, and the memorable 200bhp V8-powered Montreal of the 1970s. Its first diesel went in the Giulia saloon in 1976; an 82bhp VM-made oil-burner also went into the 1978 Alfetta Turbo D, but again, that was a saloon. It’s not until now that the company has seen fit to drop one of its black-pump-specific power plants into a car that it sells on the strength of its sporting drive. Report this review You'll read and hear a lot about Alfa Romeos, mostly about their poor reliability and build quality. But here's the trick, most or all of those opinions will be from people who've never owned one. From my experiences, the build quality is excellent, my GT feels like a very well built car, well screwed together and the controls all have a good feel to them. As far as it looks, stunning would be the word to use. There are so few of them around, that the car always gets a lot of looks wherever it goes. I have had some lovely comments about it and I suspect many think it about twice as expensive as it was. It's the only car I've owned that I look back at when I walk away from it. To drive, it's very good, the ride is a bit bumpy on some urban roads, largely due to the appalling state of them where I live, but anywhere else and the ride is very good. But on the motorway and in general it's very refined and quiet, on country roads it's very agile and has enormous amounts of grip. The engine is superb, a ridiculous amount of torque for a 1.9 engine. In fact in gear acceleration times (and the fact that you don't need to drop down two gears to get moving) are very, very impressive. The engine also has a suprisingly good sound under acceleration, it's hard to tell it's a diesel. Economy is around 45mpg and around town I'm getting about 38, pretty good. The interior as I've said is well put together and genuinely stylish, it's a cliche but every journey in the alfa is an event, with the cowled dials in front of you, and a full compliment of technology that seems to work just fine. Seats are leather and some of the best I've sat in, supportive and supremely comfortable on long journeys. Practicality wise, it's got a good sized boot, you can put the rear seat down. It has four seats, in reality you wouldn't take four adults for long distances in it, but for short trips it's fine. It does have an enormous turning circle. I have the 17" wheel option, which might not help that. Bad points: That turning circle, quite tricky to park without parking sensors as the letter box rear window isn't much use for reversing. Two other things that have been an issue with one front suspension member, which squeaks, you can quieten it for a while with silicon grease, but the part is £80 and fitting about £40. Also the JTD is notorious for putting a whole in the bottom turbo return hose. This will give you some black smoke and a slight to great loss of power. It's a design fault, but buy a silicon after market replacement item and it'll be redesigned and you won't get the problem with the leak ever again. It's noticeable by a whistle from the underside of the car when you accelerate. So all in all, a really great car the Alfa GT. I can't see any downsides to it at the moment, they are rare (it's great they are, but they shouldn't be), so exclusive. They make a sensible alternative to a BMW, which I tried. Maybe not such a rounded car, but an accomplished one, and just look at the car, stands out a mile from a 3 series, which everyone seems to own. £8k for a low mileage one on a 05 plate, good from now on in and the depreciation seems very all I can say is that someone at a bp garage asked me if it was a Maserati. Make sure it's regularly serviced by an Alfa specialist and it'll see you right. Report this review I adore my Alfa Romeo GT, I turn and look back at it every time I lock it and walk away, its economy has halved my monthly fuel bills, the cabin is a pleasure to spend time in and it is without doubt a drivers car. I always look forward to driving it and it makes me feel good. Read Guest's review (85 words) otlb 15th May 2009 Reviewer rating: otlb's review has yet to be rated - Be the first! Report this review So pleased with this car, I feel I don't want to ever change it after usually doing so every 3 years. It's attractive to the eye, and the handling is excellent. Very precise steering on fast bends without a hint of drift. The power it gives as an when required is so responsive. The car does exactly what you tell it to and executes every command perfectly. Fuel consumption is good obvoiusly depending on how you drive, but certainly the most economical larger car I have owned. Definately recommend ... Report this review The Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 did not score highly on value for money due to a few quality issues and also because of the discounting. This car has been 100 % reliable. It is excellent for motorway cruising and it's versatilty as a sporting hatchback has been very useful too. Beautifully appointed cabin. Very good ride quality and good roadholding. Economy is exceptional. An individual car which doesn't look run of the mill. These are exceptional value 2nd hand and that's how I'll buy one in future unti ... What a beautiful looker! My metalic black Alfa Romeo GT was meant to be the car of my dreams and by sight it was. Well, for the price anyway. The 1.9 JTD was ok. One can feel the metal through the pedals when driving this diesel. Don't get me wrong, the performance is satisfactory but ridged sporty coupe's deserve better. I wasn't impressed with the dash or function arms. The lamp switch was frail and awkward on the indicator arm. The ... It has classic Alfa styling and is very well screwed together. No rattles and squeeks and the quality of materials used is excellent. Diesel doesn't diminish the experience of owning an Alfa Romeo coupe - at least not when it's powered by a torque-laden 1.9 turbo and looks this good. The ¯¿½20,995 GT's just about the prettiest darn diesel on the road right now and that's no mean feat when you consider some of the top German and Japanese motors out there. This Alfa puts a final nail in the coffin of those doubters who think diesel is simply for dervheads. Here's a motor that outperforms many petrol rivals and is, quite simply, stunning to behold. Some diesels go quicker, others have better engines but the GT package is impossible to beat. This is the perfect car for bowling along on some cross-country run. It's much more refined on a fast A-road or motorway than pottering in town, where the ride can be a little harsh and unforgiving. Not only that but when you reach your destination and click the in-car computer, expect to see something like 42mpg! For once, this is a vehicle that really does live up to the manufacturer's fuel economy figures. In fact, out of town I've not been able to do worse than 38mpg and that was trying to ignore the sixth cog in the gearbox. The JTD may not wheelspin as much as the petrol V6 GT but it does come with 225lb ft of torque that makes overtaking tremendous fun. Peak torque comes at 70mph in sixth so, slip down a gear, mirror, indicate, manouvre... This performance is squeezed from a 16-valve 1.9 turbo and intercooler. The common rail set-up is a four-cylinder not five and the only drawback is that this is a non Euro IV compliant unit. That said, there's minimal engine noise in the cabin and little to give the game away. Just like the BMW 535d or some of the best Mercedes units, you'll be able to surprise some passengers with the news that this really is a diesel. And if you think this is just an Alfa 156 with a new set of clothes, you'd be fooling yourself. The GT has plenty more to offer, like improved ride and hardly a hint of the body roll that hampers the saloon. Inside, it is pure Italian, with a very cool dashboard and seats covered in a sort of plush velour called Alfatex. How well the material wears remains to be seen but it feels sumptuous to the touch and very classy. The whole interior reveals a new Alfa attention to detail that was long overdue. This is one multi-talented diesel that craves attention wherever you take it. Forget the Alfa GTV, this is the Italian coupe to be seen in - and I have the feeling it could cope with even more diesel power too...
