Alfa Romeo 16V for sale
| | 2003 ALFA ROMEO 147 JTD LUSSO M-JET 16V BLUE .
This auction is for Alfa Romeo 147 16v diesel-6speed- we purchased this car in november of last year as temporary transport while in between swapping ...> cars, and is now surplus to requirements. I would describe this car as below average condition, there are quite a few dings and dents. the worst offenders being the bonnet, boot and passenger rear quarter, photo`s dont really show damage very well. also 3rd gear has a crunch on changing down. It has had new gear linkage bushes, nearside front top suspension arm whilst i`ve had it and a cambelt/kit in may 2010. there is no service history, just a reciept for belt and a couple of mots.only 1 key. mileage seems to check out ok on mot history,i`ve also hpi checked and the damage to vehicle is not recorded. Vehicle taxed until July, but it will be available at extra cost of £80.00 within 24 hours of auction ending, payment is cash on collection within 7 days. Anyone with less then 10 positive feed back please mail first, no tyre kickers or time wasters I have been as honest as I can but feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking "Happy bidding"... | ALFA ROMEO 159 LUSSO Sportwagon 1.9 JDtM. | For Sale is our Alfa Romeo 159. We have owned this since new (albeit it Pre-Delivery registered). It has ...> a full service history and is not due another service for about 13k or a year. It has recently had an oil change as recommended by the service schedule, this was at a Alfa Romeo specialist using Alfa approved Selenia synthetic oil. All 4 tyres have been changed recently and fitted with premium Continental tyres. | We both love this car and are only selling as we both now work in the local area, and use our other small car rather than use this for a 6 mile round-trip. This car has never once let us down. I bought it purely on looks and style and was worried as it was an Alfa. It has been absolutely faultless. I would not hestitate to buy another and the decision to sell this one has been a hard one. We are not desperate to sell so please do not waste yours and our valuable time with a an extremely low offer. | X

| | 2008 ALFA ROMEO 159 TI 16V JTDM RED .
Selling a much loved car, new company car forces sale. Considered keeping both but the reality of using two cars is not that practical, hence reason for ...> sale. Car is a looker and still gains admiring glances along with the odd enthusiast whom requires to acknowledge the presence of such a car. In all the time and places I have visited whilst driving this car, I can say it is a rare day when you come across another Alfa 159 of any model type or colour, even rarer when you see a red 159 ti, which is the only colour and style that does this car the justice that it deserves. Please email or phone 0141 884 1395 in the evening Mon - Fri or anytime weekends for more information or to arrange viewing. Offers welcome from genuine buyers. I will add more photographs at the weekend if weather and time allow. X

| | ALFA ROMEO 147 JTD 16v Mjet Lusso .
Excellent Condition, Full Black Leather Interior etc
Welcome to the auction for my 2003 (53) Alfa Romeo 147 JTD 16v Multijet Lusso.Firstly, my reason for sale: I haven`t lost my job, I`m not moving abroad ...> and my Missus isn`t pregnant. The simple truth is that a recent impulse purchase means that my little Alfa now needs to go to a new home. I`ve since regretted this impulse purchase, but having not been able to sell it and not being able to justify having unused vehicles sat around indefinitely forces this sale.Whilst in my ownership this lovely little car has proven both comfortable and surprisingly fun. Being the 138 bhp 16v multijet version (rather than the vastly inferior 8v versions) provides both great performance as well as a genuinely acheivable 50 mpg fuel economy. The `Lusso` model has refinements such as electric windows, digital climate control and cruise control. Additonal options fitted to this car include the original Alfa Sport 17" alloy wheels, ipod interface and full black leather interior. As can be seen from the pictures, the car is in excellent condition both inside and out. The car is MOT`d until 08/11/2012 and taxed until the end of February 2012. The only advisory issued on the MOT was corrosion to the exhaust tailpipe. This really does only extend to the tailpipe - the back box itself is perfectly fine. The only other negative point to mention is that the air conditioning doesn`t blow very cold. The compressor etc engages and runs like it should, and the system will only require a regas. This was just one of those `little` things that I was meaning to get round to doing.Recent work on the car includes: Two recent 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta Sport tyres, Silicon lower boost pipe, both upper and lower front wishbones, both front and rear droplinks and both front wheel bearings. On 07/12/2011 both the front and rear brake discs and pads were also replaced. On 05/01/2012 the car was sent to Autolusso to investigate a poor running problem. Much work on the fuel system ensued and £1123.95 spent means that the car now runs perfectly. A member of staff at Autolusso actually commented to the vehicles excellent condition (with specific regard to the turbo etc - parts of which you would expect to be worn in a car of this age) and how well the car now runs. I have also recently replaced all four shock absorbers and springs with Koni FSD and Eibach Pro items. These were an indulgence rather than a necessity, but at about 100,000 miles I felt the original items were getting a little tired and the fitment of the new suspension has ensured that the car now handles and rides superbly. A full wheel alignment correction was carried out at Autolusso after fitting. These are the only modifications to the car.I have also replaced various other little bits and pieces such as the front and rear badges, number plates, wiper blades etc and the car has been regularly polished to maintain its beautiful metallic black paintwork. The car has full service history and a large amount of other receipts and paperwork are present for other work and maintenance carried out. The last service was in January 2012 at 114,339 miles and the cambelt (inc waterpump) was changed on 16/04/2010 at 69,001 miles (next due at 141,000 miles). As you can see I`ve invested a large amount of time and money into the maintenance of this car and it`s lovely looks, excellent drive and strong performance are all a testament to this. I have no doubt that the new owner will be very pleased with their purchase, as this lovely little car should provide reliable, fun and economical transport for a very long time to come. Please don`t hesitate to email me if you have any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck! Please no overseas bidders, or those with no or excessive negative feedback. I will not arrange for the car to be delivered abroard, and will require collecting from Oxford. I will require a £200 deposit paid via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction, and the remainder paid in cash on collection. Sorry for all of the conditions, but we`ve all been the victim of irresponsible ebayers before. Thanks. X

| | 2004 "54" ALFA ROMEO 147 LUSSO 1.9 JTD M-JET 16V in BLACK EXCELLENT CONDITION .
New MOT, 6 Speed Gearbox, Recent Cambelt kit change.
This 2004 "54" Alfa Romeo is in excellent condition throughout. It has the 1.9 JTDM 16v engine with a 6 speed gearbox, this makes the car very economical ...> and cheap to run. The cambelt was very recently changed at a Alfa Romeo specialist with all pulleys and water pump included. This Alfa feels superb to drive, like a car with very low miles. This car has a full MOT history. The bodywork is in excellent condition throughout, with almost no details on the car and a very deep shine. The interior is all very clean throughout and everything is working as it should be. X

| | 2008 ALFA ROMEO 159 TI 16V 1.9 JTDM RED .
Hi,up for sale with a very heavy heart is my dream car. I`ve wanted one of these from the day they started making them in 2007. I finally got this one ...> last year, and have now moved jobs and live 300 metres from my work, hence the very very reluctant sale.Dont mistake this model for one of the basic models with the small wheels and bland interior. This is the Ti model, with the best and highest spec of them all. 19" wheels, lowered suspension, Brembo brakes, side skirts, chrome mirrors and the red logo leather seats. The only option my car does not have is the factory sat nav, and by all accounts it is rubbish anyway. Please dont be put off by the high mileage, as I have been a mechanic for 23 years and do not buy rubbish. This car has a substantial full service history. It was a Lloydstsb district managers car before me and it did 2 journeys a week between Windsor and Newcastle. As you probably know, 95% of wear on an engine is in the first 3 minutes of start up. This car does not smoke in the slightest. It is mechanically in A1 condition. Everything that has needed doing has been done due to it being a Lloyds lease car.The cambelt kit was done at 82000 miles, and the clutch and dual mass flywheel were done at 87000 miles. These are the important ones to note. The only flaw with the car is the laquer which is peeling from the front bumper and edge of the bonnet due to stones on the motorway. There are no dents, car park dints or scratches at all.The Leather seats and interior are as new. The back seats look like they have never been sat in.The things that I have done to the car are:1: fitted a twin exit exhaust to make it look like the 2.4. (the 1.9 only has one tailpipe).2: one of the main problems with modern diesels are when the DPF`s (diesel particulate filter)block up and cause the engine to go into limp mode and is very costly to repair. Mainly caused by short journeys or town driving. I have had this removed and had a bypass pipe fitted, and at the same time had the engine remapped for more power and torque(and better mpg) to 195 bhp. The dpf software has been removed also. I did this to my previous SEAT Leon diesel as that one did block. The one I removed from this car is not blocked and will be available with the car if you want it, or I can refit it for you. There is a lot of literature about this problem on google, so go ahead and look up "DPF problems". This can never happen to my car now, and it is not an MOT requirement to have the DPF on the car. This was done by an Alfa Romeo specialist, not a back street garage. The car has many extras like the Blue and Me, which connects by bluetooth into your phone and you control your phone using the steering wheel controls and facia computer. It also has a USB connector in the glove box to play your music and stuff through. It has parking sensors, hill start brakes, auto wipers, auto lights, anti dazzle mirrors, remote deadlocking, electric folding mirrors, heated seats, electric everything, the list goes on. The picture speak for themselves. Please do not make any silly offers as this car with lower mileage would go for around £2000 more. And remember that the lower mileage ones will have done a lot of stop and starts, and the engine will probably be more worn than this one.Come and have a look before bidding, as you will love the car when you see it.I am a very honest and genuine ebayer, just look at my seller feedback. I do not buy or sell rubbish. The landline number in the advert is my work number. I do 4 days on and 4 days off, so call or text my mobile first and I will call you back.I will be looking for a VW transporter T5 once this sells to take my new motorbike to the track so if you have something I might like, let me know. Even better if its a Kombi van. Cash either way. Thanks for looking. X

76 kW (103 PS) - 114 kW (155 PS) Alfa Romeo Twin Spark (TS) technology was used first time in Alfa Romeo Grand Prix car in 1914.[1] In the early 1960s it was used in their race cars (GTA, TZ) to enable it to achieve a higher power output from its engines. And in the early and middle 1980s, Alfa Romeo incorporated this technology into their road cars to enhance their performance and to comply with stricter emission controls. Contents 1 The 'Twin Spark'

7 Footnotes [edit] The 'Twin Spark'
Twin Spark name usually refers to the engines installed in Alfa Romeo cars. Initially appearing in Alfa Romeo 75 model and then used in Alfa Romeo 164, 155, 145, 146, 156, 147, 166 models.
The TS series engines are all '4 cylinder inline' with twin cam (DOHC) shafts. The original 8 valve engine featured a light alloy (Si enhanced alu alloy) block + head, wet cooled iron cylinder liners and the camshafts were driven by double row timing chains (long and short). Similar design to the earlier and famous Alfa Romeo DOHC engines, but with narrower valve angle on this model.
The later 16 valve engines had a heavier cast iron block engine, with an alloy head, and the camshafts were belt driven. The Twin Spark name comes from the fact that there are two spark plugs per cylinder. The block was Fiat sourced.
The two sparks on the 8V Alfa Twin Spark engines fire at the same time per cylinder and this makes the fuel mixture burn faster than single plug ignition because it is fired from 2 different places simultaneously. So less ignition advance could be used and also leaner mixtures could be burned. The 8V engine also has 8 identical spark plugs. They are symmetrically located at opposite sides of the combustion chamber. There is no room for a center positioned spark plug because the 2L version of the 8V engine use a 44mm intake valve and the two spark plug holes are on the sides of the 2 valves.
On 16V engines there is room for a spark plug in the middle of the cylinder as in all 4-valve configuration engines, but also a second smaller plug is installed as well to keep the name Twin Spark. Both of the plugs fire on compression and on the exhaust stroke, due to the way in which the coils are paired (1&4 and 2&3). This production economy allows the use of 4 coils, instead of eight, which would normally be required to fire eight plugs, and is common practice called "wasted spark" system. (used also in Ford EDIS system as well as in some Alfa Romeo V6 engines 3 coils for the 6 cylinders). The main reason for the wasted spark system is cost. As both plugs are connected to the same coil the spark one of them comes with reversed polarity and requires decreased breakdown voltage. On the later (CF3) 16v TS the four coils fire the same cylinder spark plugs (so not 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 as pairs but coil #1 fires the big and small plug of cylinder 1, and so on). The TS 16V engines, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0, all use a 10 mm diameter and a 14 mm diameter long life platinum electrode spark plug per cylinder. The spark plugs have a replacement interval of 100,000 kilometres (62,000 mi). The operation of the Twin spark engine has been subject to much debate but this is the general theory of operation, as described by Auto Italia magazine. 16 valve Twin Spark with older cover. The engines also incorporate two other devices to enhance the performance under operation, the Camshaft Phase Variator and the Variable Intake Length Control on the later (plastic cam cover) 1.8 and 2.0 litre versions. On lower rpms the intake length is increased which increases the intake air speed and promotes better combustion and mixing under these conditions, also changes the intake resonance frequencies.
The advancing of the inlet camshaft by 30 degrees (or 15 camshaft degrees) which makes the intake valves open and close earlier, when the predetermined rpm and load range is reached, makes the compression phase of the combustion process to begin earlier than when the camshaft is not in its advanced state and in this way the dynamic effective compression ratio is increased which produces more torque at the given engine speed. Also as the intake valve is also opened earlier the valve overlap is also increased at that mode. On some similar inlet cam phasing systems like BMW VANOS the phasing is returned to the retarded state at higher rpm.
On 8V engines the valve overlap and intake open duration are quite big. These engines hardly idle with the variator at On position so on these models it had the meaning also to enhance lower speed operation. On the newer 16V engines the camshaft variator is used to enhance the performance/emissions but also might be the source to the common 'diesel noise' problem often seen on high mileage used models which used the earlier internals of the variator. The same variator system is also used in many Fiat/Lancia engines like one used in Lancia Kappa 5-cylinder engine, some Fiat Bravo/Marea engines, Fiat Barchetta, Fiat Coupe, Fiat Stilo etc. models.
[edit] Variable Inlet Control 16 valve Twin Spark The Variable Inlet Control causes the air intake (plenum) to shorten its path from the intake trumpet to the valve bores, again when the engine reaches a pre-defined RPM. This works on the principle that the air intake length is a tuned pipe that when operating at its ideal frequency-in tune with the valves, will allow a smooth and even air flow, and will assist with filling the cylinders efficiently. This works in a similar method to the tuned exhaust system on all modern cars, where the exhaust system creates back pressure to pull spent gasses from the cylinder bores. The variable intake system uses the cone inside the airbox to reflect negative pressure waves back down the inlet. These waves are used to assist in filling of the cylinders. the variable inlet allows this to take place at different engine speeds.
The notable effect that these two devices have is that the engine will have a linear power deilivery from low RPM up until the red line, without the lack of torque at low RPM, and a kick in power at higher RPM, that is typical of multivalve engines as they come "On cam".
It is a type of Variable Length Intake Manifold
[edit] Variable valve timing
Variable valve timing gave the Twin Spark engine very good performance for its cubic capacity, but it is one of the weaker areas of the 16 valve engine. The variator that controls the cam timing is prone to wear or jam. Symptoms are a slight loss of performance and a diesel type rattle from the top of the engine, which appears at startup and gradually lasts for longer. It is therefore advisable to get the variator changed regardless of its apparent condition at the 36,000 mile (60,000 km) cambelt replacement. The variator problem is not often seen in the earlier 8V Twin Spark version, as these use a different type of cam timing variator system, this is also the case for later 16v versions used in the Alfa Romeo 156 and the 147 where the weak variator was addressed.

However, the most powerful petrol and diesel engines aren’t available in the relatively basic Turismo trim. Alfa’s 77bhp 1.4 petrol is the entry-level engine (and unique to the Junior), but there's a stronger 94bhp version, as well as two novel Multiair units that respond more keenly than conventional engines. Like the frugal 1.3 JDTm (the smaller of the two diesels), these also have stop-start systems to boost fuel economy and cut emissions. Even the 1.6 JTDm has impressive economy, given how quick it is. Above the most basic Junior trim is Turismo, which has air conditioning and lots of safety kit, but you’ll need to move up to Lusso to get alloy wheels, the fancy carbon-weave dashboard and leather trim on the steering wheel. Top Veloce models feature large 17” alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and sports bumper, as well as Bluetooth connectivity with a USB port. I have the chance of acquiring for a very good price an alfa romeo 155 1.6 16v twin spark from 1998. But I don't know a lot about this specific model, apart that it's one of the latest series produced (which I find more aesthetically appealling). Is it the same engine that equips the new 156's? Is this engine reliable? What critical points should I check for when test driving it? In general, what are the most worrying aspects of these cars (155), and the 1.6 engine (the 120HP version)? Thanks in advance. #2 (Post Link) 30-07-2007 ransoman Status: Fiat time. Engine will be more or less the same as 156s from the same period. wrinx #4 (Post Link) 30-07-2007 Mr.Johnny Status: - Newbie Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 2 Member car:Range Rover Tdi Re: Alfa Romeo 155 1.6 16v twin spark (info needed) I thought exactly the same thing... but apparently they did: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_155 (check the engines section) And it seems there's 3 revisions of the 1.6 16v engine - cf1, cf2 and cf3, if I'm not mistaken? Also, what are the differences? The same considerations apply as to all 16v engines...don't ever run them short on oil, change the cambelt at 36K miles (55K kilometres?), don't expect much torque below 3K revs....... I'd think a 1.6 in a 155 would be a bit gutless.... The 155 is a great fun car, though.....
